Today is a special day! My classmates and I felt great happiness because we were invited by our teachers to cook together at EBPP Ban Office. Each student contributed some of the ingredients and spices, making this experience feel even more worthwhile. The goals are: to practice teamwork, appreciate Balinese culture, and strengthen friendships through moments of sharing food. This activity is also part of learning at school.
We were divided into groups, each with a different task. I learned to wrap chicken dough with spices and coconut and then steam until cooked. In addition, I also grate the coconut, slice the spices, and help with other preparations. Other friends cook rice, make satay, and process soup from jackfruit and young banana stalks.
When everything was ready, we sat in a circle on a plastic mat, enjoying the foods of our hard work together. This is my first time cooking and eating with schoolmates, a very pleasant experience! I not only learned how to cook traditional dishes, but also felt the warmth of such a unique tradition.
This togetherness is really beautiful. I hope that activities like this can be done more often, because besides being fun, we also learn new things that are very valuable.
