In a small classroom at EBPP school, enthusiasm radiated from students’ faces as they opened a new chapter in their lives: their book of hope. As their Guidance and Counselling Teacher, I designed this simple but meaningful activity to help them explore their potential and set goals in life.
I asked each student to keep a personal journal, where they are free to write down their dreams, reflections, and aspirations. On the first page, one student wrote, "I want to be a doctor so I can help people in my village." Another had a drawing of a vegetable garden with the caption “My dream of becoming a successful farmer”.
A special moment came when they stood in front of their classmates, sharing the contents of their wish book. At first, some students seemed nervous, but while speaking, smiles and confidence began to appear. Their friends listened intently, giving warm applause to each inspiring story.
This activity is more than just daily writing: it's a journey of self-discovery. The wish book is a window that opens students' insights into their potential; they learn self-reflection, build self-confidence, and instil positive habits to pursue their dreams.
As the class was ending, I saw something wonderful: their eyes lit up with hope. I know the seeds of dreams have been planted. It is only a matter of time before they grow into reality.
